Every year we welcome back DJ Rich Mayorga from Sunnyside High School. He MC’s the day and spin the great music in between performances and helps get announcements made throughout the day – Thank you DJ RICH!
9:00 am – Mariachi Cielo De Mexico opens the festival with world famous Mariachi music.
10:00 am – Pecan Cracking Contest – come enjoy a new tradition at festival. Grab cracker and see how many pecans nuts you can crack open – without breaking the nut inside! Prizes will be award for top count. See ‘Big Al’ from KGUN 9 announce the winners for this contest and Judge the Pecan Pie Contest.
10:30 am – Pecan Pie Contest Judging – New to festival is our widely anticipated Pecan Pie Contest. Judges from around Sahuarita will be selecting the best pecan pie.
11:30 am – Welcoming Ceremony – The Walden Family invites you to sit down learn about the festival and welcome special guests
12:00 pm – ‘Big Al’ welcomes back 80′s and the Gentleman! A great 80′s tribute band we loved so much at 2011 festival – we had to bring the back!
2:30 pm – if you missed the first pecan cracking contest – no fear – we have another one!
3:00 pm – Walden Grove Jazz Band
4:00 pm – Nolic Traditional Dance – a Tohono O’Odham dance group that will be sure to entertain festival goers of all ages – they also love to give out gifts if you participate in the dance!
9:30 am – Rancho Sonado – Arabian Horse demonstration. Come see nationally award winning Arabians
SAAHA (Southern Arizona Arabian Horse Association) – SAAHA will be doing presentation all day long – make sure to stop by and learn more.
9:30 am to 4:00 pm – Harvest Demonstrations in the Orchard – bring non-perishable food or monetary donations for the Green Valley Community Food bank to take a horse drawn wagon into the orchard and learn about harvesting pecans
Other Activities: Roping demonstrations, Heritage tent with photo displays, crop displays, Tohono O’ohdam basket weaving and more!
Our children’s area is completely FREE – thank you to TMC for Children. Come bounce on the gravity jump, climb a rock wall, bounce houses, take pictures with your friends and see what the Walden Grove High School Robotics team is up to.
